Lee Dewyze wins American Idol
In somewhat of an upset, Lee DeWyze defeated Crystal Bowersox to become the winner of Season 9 of the FOX hit "American Idol".
He was the last singer standing after a monthslong process that started with more than 100,000 hopefuls auditioning around the country dating back to summer 2009.
On Tuesday night's performance show, DeWyze, 24, sang three songs, though three of the judges were measured in their praise, indicating that he had fallen short of expectations.
"You sounded nice doing it," Randy Jackson told DeWyze. "But, c'mon, man, pick it up, pick it up... Get some more energy going."
Bowersox, meantime, had wowed the judges with her soulful performances, including an emotional cover of Patty Griffin's "Up to the Mountain."
Dewyze has been performing music since age 16, according to his FOX bio. He is from Mount Prospect, Illinois, and enjoys playing the guitar and scuba diving. Etiquetas: American Idol, Lee Dewyze
