Bruno Mars charged with possesion of a Controlled Substance

VÚMETER HITS
On Friday, the D.A. in Mars’ case filed a criminal complaint against him, formally charging the young musician (whose real name is Peter Hernandez) with a felony: possession of a controlled substance.

The Huffington Post reports that Mars performed at the Wasted Space nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino before he was suspected by a bathroom attendant of doing drugs in the men’s room; a security guard was alerted and Mars, confronted on the spot, allegedly reached into his jeans and handed over a bag containing more than two grams of cocaine.

Taken in for questioning, Mars reportedly asked an officer, “Can I speak to you honestly, sir?” and then confessed that he had acted foolishly and never tried drugs before in his life.

If convicted, the 24-year-old born in Hawaii could be sentenced to four years behind bars and a fine of up to $5,000. TMZ points out, however, that with a clean record of no prior arrests, the singer is unlikely to be sent to jail.

His record company Elektra had this to say, according to TMZ: “We congratulate Bruno Mars on his chart-topping success, and provide him with our full love and support.”

Bruno Mars is scheduled to appear back in court on November 18. Etiquetas:
